Principles of Conduct
The School of Philosophy Auckland Incorporated has been providing practical courses in philosophy since 1960.
We welcome all students to participate and explore openly and honestly, as a group and individually, the material presented for consideration and discussion. The learnings are influenced by the wisdom, teachings and traditions of both the East and West.
Our culture is based on truth, respect, equality, integrity and trust in our relationships and care for one another. Everyone is encouraged to develop a safe and confidential environment in which students are free to express their views and experiences. An open mind that neither accepts nor rejects presented material and discussion, together with non-criticism of oneself or others, is imperative.
Common courtesy expects students to arrive at scheduled meetings on time and present themselves respectfully. Timely notification of an impending absence is always appreciated by the tutor and other group students.
Tutors and other administrative roles are undertaken by students who volunteer their time freely and without remuneration for their services.
The School is a registered charity. No one involved with the School may use that relationship, or the material presented, for their financial gain or personal advantage.
Any need to raise a concern should be directed to either a tutor or the Secretary of the Executive Committee at . They will investigate and deal with the matter in an appropriate, timely and confidential manner.
